J PERCY PAGE HIGH SCHOOL
MTa was retained by Edmonton Public Schools (EPS), Facilities Services to undertake a review of comprehensive skylight/sloped roof replacement of J Percy Page High School. MTa and its consultants (including Building Envelope Specialist RJC) recommended that the sloped skylights be replaced with select areas of vertical glazing and a more thermally efficient roof system. The project involves replacement of a sloped skylight/light weight pre-finished metal panel roof system. The design provides a more thermally efficient roof system and provides more controllable natural light within the school. During the course of the development of design and construction documents, it became apparent the existing pre-finished metal cladding panels utilized throughout the school were also at the end of their life and required replacement. MTa has developed a concept for recladding the school and this has been approved by Edmonton Public Schools with construction work started in 2014.
