Deer Lodge Redevelopment

Lake Louise, AB.

Deer Lodge is a unique mountain resort nestled in the Canadian Rockies in Upper Lake Louise, Alberta. This historic hotel is rich in character and is a remarkable example of the Architectural built heritage in the region. Built-in 1922 as a trading company & teahouse, it was subsequently expanded into a lodge in 1925, and has been through several iterations of renewal since then. The last redevelopment was in 1985 when the Lodge was completely renovated and winterized. Surrounded by unsurpassed natural beauty, Deer Lodge enjoys busy tourist traffic year-round, and is heralded as a significant tourist hub due to its proximity to Lake Louise ski areas, and adjacency to local hiking trailheads. MTA has developed a Master plan which involves building restoration and renovation, new buildings, and an extensive landscaping strategy with outdoor amenity areas such as a Nordic spa, private gardens, and outdoor recreation such as skating and fire pits. New building programming includes new room wings, staff accommodation, meeting and event rooms, and an apres-ski bar which will be located in the Rocky Mountain Tour Garage (reconstructed and relocated). Our intent is to provide a site and building solutions which maintain the commercial area restraints and maximizes the guest room yield while keeping within the Community Plan design guidelines.
