The Downtown Campus represents the adaptive re-use of a former six storey medical office building by one of Canada’s premier private medical office providers — Northwest Healthcare Properties, houses a new distinctive Downtown Campus for the University of Calgary.
The Downtown Campus houses satellites of a number of University of Calgary faculties, including the School of Public Policy and the Haskayne School of Business. The campus design incorporates sustainable building initiatives framed within the pursuit of LEED™ Silver accreditation. Architecturally, the building provides the University of Calgary with a branded presence within the downtown, showcasing a very unique retrofit of the existing office building envelope.
A new curtain wall system replaces the old south/east facade, while the existing masonry wall assembly on the west/north facades has been rehabilitated including structural reinforcement and new windows.
