Christine Meikle School is a junior / senior high school located in an established north-west Calgary neighborhood. Completed in 2016, the school is a replacement for an aging facility that was never designed to accommodate the complex special needs of the students. The new facility is a state-of-the-art leaning environment that will accommodate up to 125 students with complex special needs from across the city. The school’s unique education program combines an enhanced arrival / departure area designed around a highly orchestrated drop-off sequence at 3 separate entrances, indoor and outdoor mobility tracks which incorporate necessary circulation for school spaces into overall mobility paths for exercise. This school / facility is in the process of achieving targeted LEED Silver certification.
